The star has also acted in films in many languages including Hindi, Telugu, etc. His next project in line was announced to be with the Blockbuster production banner Lyca production. It's tentatively titled Thalaivar 170 and was announced on March 2. It was announced that it will be directed by Jai Bhim fame director T.J. Gnanavel. Recently, a news about the film has made headlines. Some media reports stated legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan will play an important role in the film and this new speculation has become viral.

If Amitabh Bachchan joins the cast of Thalaivar 170, this would mark the massive reunion of the Bollywood legend with ‘Superstar' Rajinikanth after about 32 years and will mark the Tamil actor. They acted together in the Hindi film titled Hum which was released in 1991. The top stars of Indian cinema are known to be close friends off-screen. Last year, on the birthday of Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth wrote a special message on Twitter to the actor to which he replied saying "Rajini sir give me too much credit... You have been not just a colleague but a most dear friend."

'Superstar' Rajinikanth has an exciting lineup of films including Jailer directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The film is to release in theatres on August 10 and has a massive star-studded cast. The next film of the star actor in the pipeline is directed by his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth and is a sports film titled Lal Salaam. Thalaivar 170 is to be produced by Lyca Production and directed by Jai Bhim fame director T J Gnanavel. The film will have music by  Anirudh Ravichander and is set to go on floors later.
