Director Aanand L Rai who introduced Dhanush in Hindi cinema with Raanjhanaa and later worked with him in the recent film, Atrangi Re, is back with his next outing, Raksha Bandhan. The film features Akshay Kumar in the lead role and the film revolves around the emotional relationship between him and his four younger sisters. The trailer of the film was officially launched yesterday and it has already opened to a good reception from the masses. Though there has been a mixed reaction to Akshay Kumar;s makeover in the film and the melodramatic moments, it looks like the core has impressed the masses.

It is always good to see breezy family entertainers and Raksha Bandhan seems to fit that zone perfectly. The trailer gives us a sneak peek of Raksha Bandhan where Akshay Kumar takes a vow that he will marry Bhumi Pednekar (female lead) only after the wedding of his younger sisters. To what maximum extent can Akshay Kumar go to assure the happy livelihood of his sisters is what Raksha Bandhan is going to be about and it looks to be a promising film. Aanand L Rai has directed this film which is slated to release in theatres on August 11. The post production works are currently happening in full swing, travelling right on track for release on Aug 11.

Produced by Colour Yellow Production and Cape of Good Films in association with Zee Studios, this film has cinematography handled by KU Mohanan and editing by Hemal Kothari. Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon have written this film that has songs composed by Himesh Reshammiya and background score by Ishaan Chhabra. Raksha Bandhan features Bhumi Pednekar as the female lead, while Deepika Khanna, Sadia Khateeb, Smrithi Srikanth, Seema Pahwa, and Sahejmeen Kaur in important roles.
