Owing to the third wave of Covid 19 several notable biggies including the likes of Ajith Kumar's Valimai, Rajamouli's RRR, Prabhas' Radhe Shyam, Suriya's Etharkkum Thunindhavan, Sivakarthikeyan's Don, Vijay Sethupathi's Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal backed out of its initial release plans and there is a major reshuffle that is going to happen. Having said that, the latest buzz in the trade is that Ajith Kumar's Valimai is most likely to kickstart the business for theatres after the third wave as that is expected to be the first mega biggie to release among the lot.

Reports are rife that the makers of Valimai are planning to release the film on February 24, Thursday, and this update has already garnered wide attention on social media. The fans are delighted by this update and are waiting for an official word from the makers. It is said that the team will take a final call after looking at the intensity of the Covid 19 situation and the occupancy percentage in theatres across the country. Since Valimai is a massive film that is planned to have a pan Indian release, the team will look at the scenario in all the states and not just Tamil Nadu.

Suriya's Etharkkum Thunindhavan which was initially scheduled to release on February 4 was actually expected to release first, either on Feb 18 or 25. It is rumoured that ET is likely to release on March 11, but we will have to wait for the official word from the production side. Aw ait of a few more days will tell us which among Valimai and ET will release first, kickstarting the theatrical movie season. Both the films have got the potential to attract a large number of audiences to the theatres. Going by the current reports, it is believed that Valimai will release first, on February 24.
