Ajith Kumar has been an ace actor for a very long time now. He currently has 60 movies in his belt and there is no stopping him. With the release of his latest film Valimai, it has been breaking previous box office records and looks like it is going strong. With an amazing acting range and whatnot, he too like any other actor faced certain hiccups in his career along the way. He has also got films that did not perform as well as they should have and that may be due to a variety of unknown reasons. Let us look at some of such films that deserve another look and more appreciation (in no order of importance):

1) YENNAI ARINDHAAL:

This 2015 action thriller revolves around DCP Sathyadev IPS (Sathya), a former police officer, who tries to protect a young woman from Victor, a vengeful criminal linked to his past. The film's premise was good and the performances delivered by the cast was also commendable. But due to some unforeseen circumstances, the film had a mixed response from the audience. However, Yennai Arindhaal is definitely a good film that had quite a lot of well-written sequences.

2) MUGAVARI:

This 2000's romantic musical drama tells about Sridhar, an aspiring music director, who has been struggling to find his place in the music industry for many years. He falls in love but is willing to put his relationship on a backburner for success. The film contains conflicting emotions of ambition, love and responsibility that Sridhar, played by Ajith Kumar, goes through in his quest to become a successful music composer.

3) KIREEDAM:

This 2007 action drama follows Sakthi, an obedient son of an honest policeman who wants him to join the force. When his father is transferred as a punishment, Sakthi is also punished as he cannot join the force. As his father's dream lies shattered, Sakthi must fight the law. The film is extremely underrated supported by fantastic acting by the star, good story & screenplay and has also got a great emotional connect.

4) ULLASAM:

This 1997 action romance film tells the tale of two fathers and their sons. Two boys (Vikram and Ajith) grow up being influenced by each other's respective fathers. While one becomes a singer, the other becomes a local goon. Incidentally, both love the same girl in college.

5) BILLA 2:

This 2012 action film was the prequel to its critically acclaimed predecessor, Billa. It was the origin story of how a normal man such as David Billa ended up being the underworld don that he is. It shows the transformation of a Sri Lankan Tamil refugee to the most feared underworld don. With his innocence taken away, he is pushed into the world of arms and drugs. His life only gets worse when his friends from the underworld also turn out to be untrustworthy. Despite the film taking a big hit in terms of direction and packaging, Billa 2 is a film that stays close to the hearts of a lot of fans, thanks to the effective dialogues and brilliant performance from Ajith.
