There has been massive buzz surrounding Aishwarya Rajinikanth's Lal Salaam ever since it was revealed that Rajinikanth would be seen in an extended cameo as the character Moideen bhai, with the veteran actor's first look poster released sometime back receiving a huge response on social media. Filming has been taking place at regular intervals for nearly a month, with the team a while back carrying out the production for a few days in Mumbai and then heading to Pondicherry. Videos on social media over the past couple of days show Rajinikanth being showered with love by fans gathered at the Lal Salaam shooting location.

Being produced by Lyca Productions and featuring music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman, Lal Salaam is Aishwarya Rajinikanth's fourth directorial after 3 (2012), Vai Raja Vai (2015), and the documentary Cinema Veeran (2017) and is a sports-based film revolving around cricket featuring Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles. It is to be noted that legendary cricketer and India's 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev too will be seen in the film and had shot a few portions with Rajinikanth during the Mumbai schedule.
