Apart from directing films, Karthik Subbaraj has also been actively producing movies in Tamil cinema and he has several hit films to his credit. Earlier this morning (October 6), the official announcement on Karthik Subbaraj's next production venture was made and it has garnered wide attention on social media. This new film is titled Ammu and it will have a direct OTT release on the Amazon Prime Video platform. The film has been announced to release on October 19, ahead of the Diwali weekend and we are less than 2 weeks away from witnessing the film.

Ammu is a Telugu - Tamil bilingual which will also be released in Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi languages. Ammu stars Aishwarya Lekshmi in the lead role and this film is expected to have an important place in her filmography. Naveen Chandra and Bobby Simha play the other leads in this film directed by Charukesh Sekar who earlier made the Tamil web series, Triples, starring Jai, Vani Bhojan, Vivek Prasanna, Madhuri, Rajkumar, Namita Krishnamurthy and others. Bharath Sankar will be scoring music for the film, while the cinematography and editing departments are headed by Apoorva Shaligram and Radha Sridhar respectively.

The teaser of the film was also unveiled this morning and it looks quite promising. The teaser introduces us to Aishwarya Lekshmi's character, a pregnant lady who is all excited to welcome her baby, but eventually, she hears the voice of her husband, and her facial expression changes instantly. There seems to be a conflict between Ammu and her husband and this piques our curiosity, making us look forward to seeing the film. The official synopsis of the film, as stated by the makers read, "Ammu thought marriage was a fairy tale - full of love and magic. It all changed when her cop-husband Ravi hit her for the very first time.

What Ammu thought was a one-off incident turned into a never-ending cycle of abuse, trapping her and breaking her soul and spirit. Pushed to her limits, Ammu teams up with an unlikely ally to break free".
