Sivakarthikeyan's next big film, Maaveeran, is currently filming, and blockbuster director Shankar's daughter Aditi Shankar is playing the female lead. Having made a stunning acting debut in the Karthi-starrer Viruman last month, the youth sensation took to social media on Thursday, September 1, to announce that she has joined the shooting for the upcoming action film, which is being directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Madonne Ashwin. Sharing a picture of herself on her Instagram Story, Aditi informed fans and followers that she has begun filming her portions for Sivakarthikeyan’s Maaveeran. Maaveeran went on floors on August 3 in Chennai after which the team filmed a schedule in Hyderabad a few days back. Being produced by Arun Viswa under the Shanthi Talkies banner, photos from the film's launch event generated a massive buzz, with the makers also releasing an interesting announcement teaser showing Sivakarthikeyan in an action avatar. The Maaveeran announcement teaser drew massive praise from fans after it introduced Sivakarthikeyan in an intriguing manner and showed him taking on a bunch of goons and bad guys.

Apart from Sivakarthikeyan and Aditi Shankar playing the lead roles, Maaveeran has acclaimed filmmaker Mysskin playing the antagonist, with the supporting cast featuring the likes of Saritha, Yogi Babu, among others. The film is incidentally director Madonne Ashwin's next after his Mandela starring Yogi Babu, which fetched him the Best Debut Film of a Director and Best Screenplay (Dialogues), and that too in his big-screen film-making debut. Maaveeran also includes a talented technical team that includes music composed by Bharath Sankar, while the cinematography and editing are handled by Vidhu Ayyana and Philomin Raj, respectively.
