The world has been battling the COVID-19 pandemic for more than one and a half years, with the infectious disease claiming the lives of millions and also causing a massive economic slowdown. Vaccination programmes are being conducted by governments along with the implementation of strict measures to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. The pandemic has claimed several dear names from Tamil cinema during this time like legendary singer S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, blockbuster director KV Anand, comedy actor Pandu, actor Nitish Veera, wife of director Arunraja Kamaraj, visually-challenged singer Komagan to name a few. Two weeks back, veteran South Indian actress Kavitha had lost her son Sanjay Roop after he succumbed to COVID-19, with news now coming in that her husband, Dasaratharaj, who had been admitted to hospital for treatment, has passed away as well.

Earlier this month, Kavitha's husband Dasaratharaj and her son Sanjay Roop had tested positive for COVID-19 and were admitted to a private hospital in Chennai after their health began deteriorating. Unfortunately, Sanjay Roop passed away on June 16. Now, on Wednesday (June 30), Kavitha's husband Dasaratharaj too has died due to complications from the deadly virus, with many celebrities and fans offering their condolences. The loss of her husband and son in such quick succession will no doubt come as a huge personal loss to actress Kavitha and we here at Galatta extend our heartfelt condolences to her and the bereaved family at this hour of grief.
