In tragic news, Bengali model-actress Bidisha De Majumdar was found dead at her apartment in the Dumdum area, Kolkata, on Wednesday evening, May 25. She was 21. According to the police, Bidisha was found hanging by her neighbors who along with officials broke open her apartment’s door. The police have sent the body for an autopsy at the R G Kar Hospital. Authorities also discovered a suicide note at Bidisha's residence and have now launched a probe into the actress' death. In the note, she wrote that she was resorting to taking the extreme step due to a lack of career opportunities, news agency PTI quoted the police, while also stating that handwriting experts will continue to examine the letter. 

A popular face in bridal make-up photoshoots, Bidisha was from a northern Kolkata suburb and made her acting debut in the 2021 shot film titled, Bhaar- The Clown. The news of the up-and-coming model-actress has left many in the Bengali entertainment industry in shock, with her modeling fraternity paying their tributes, while fans too have expressed their condolences on social media. Actor Suman Dey shared his condolences after hearing the news of Bidisha's demise and told ETimes, "It is shocking news and truly saddening. The time has come that we should prioritize mental health, talk about the issues that affect us." Bidisha's death came days after young Bengali television actress Pallavi Dey was found dead at her residence  in Garfa, Kolkata, on May 15, with an investigation currently underway.
