Lok Sabha polls 2024: Tamil Nadu BJP chief K. Annamalai announces 100 promises in manifesto for the Coimbatore constituency - Daily news

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president K. Annamalai on Friday, April 12, announced 100 promises for the Coimbatore constituency along with an assurance of fulfilling them in 500 days. The manifesto was released by the party's national women’s wing president Vanathi Srinivasan, which was received by 12 people who were representing different sectors. Annamalai, who is contesting from Coimbatore in the 2024 Indian general election, addressed the promises in the manifesto among which include the expansion of the airport in the city, the metro rail project, the establishment of Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Anamalai - Nallar scheme implementation, the setting up of NIA and NCB branches and a National Institute of Ageing, the revival of rivers, the formation of a semiconductor industry, a training centre of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), reviving the Powertex scheme for power loom units with increased subsidies, including rail services to key pilgrimage centres.

Elaborating on the BJP's manifesto for the Coimbatore constituency, Annamalai further stated that attempts will be made to motivate the power loom units to opt for solar energy, while affirming that an automotive corridor will be put up along with a textile park at Somanur. Earlier in the day, Annamalai, who spoke at the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, stated that the cotton problem being faced by the textile industry will be dealt within a year, while informing that yarn banks will also be founded. 

The Lok Sabha polls will see all 39 seats in Tamil Nadu vote in a single phase on April 19 to be held in seven phases and the votes will be counted on June 4. Annamalai will be contesting against DMK's Ganapathy P Rajkumar and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's (AIADMK) candidate Singai Ramachandran for the Coimbatore Lok Sabha seat.
