The entire world is reeling from the disastrous effects of the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic. This deadly virus has already claimed over 157,000 lives across the world and is still continuing to affect hundreds of people, with each passing day. However, the Islamic holy month of Ramadan is almost upon us and is believed to begin in India, from the 24th of April. With this in mind, the World Health Organization has come out with some basic guidelines to be followed by all the people, to ensure that the COVID-19 Corona Virus doesn't spread, during this month of Ramadan! The WHO guidelines state, "A standardised risk assessment exercise must be followed while taking a decision to either modify or cancel or proceed with a mass gathering."

The WHO has also suggested that instead of physical mass gatherings, virtual options like television, radio or internet can be used. It has also suggested that instead of the normal physical contact way of greeting using hugs, waving or nodding or placing the hand over one's own heart, could also be adopted. Aged people and those who are unwell are requested to avoid attending any gathering, be it social or religious. The WHO has also ruled that any gathering during Ramadan should be arranged only outdoors with very limited numbers and in case any member of the gathering is found to be ill, immediate contact tracing and quarantine should be followed. The WHO has also asked for physical distancing while giving away 'Zakah' the regular charity to the needy and try to avoid 'Iftar' parties.  The guidelines also suggest following a healthy diet and to maintain the bodies in a hydrated state.
