Vikram Prabhu's next Tamil film has been officially announced and this new film is called Taanakkaran. This film has been produced by SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu under the banner of Potential Studios, known for bankrolling movies like Nayanthara's Maya, SJ Suryah's Monster, and Lokesh Kanagaraj's debut film, Maanagaram. The first look poster has also been released and the poster shows immense promise. From what we see, it looks like Taanakkaran will be having a strong content to engage the audience. It looks like Vikram Prabhu plays a police officer in the film and his makeover looks very interesting. Vikram Prabhu seems to have gotten a memorable character to portray the poster gives us a glimpse of his look in the film.

Vikram Prabhu mentioned, in his latest tweet, that Taanakkaran was a highly challenging script to be shot and also added that it was a physically and mentally demanding film for him. Sharing the first look poster, Vikram Prabhu wrote, "#டாணாக்காரன் #Taanakkaran Happy to be part of this story telling. Truly a tough script to shoot, physically and mentally demanding but we had a team that worked together to achieve something special. Wishes to my entire team & as always, need your love & support #Tamizh".

Taanakkaran is directed by debutant Tamizh. SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu are known for backing young and promising filmmakers like Ashwin Saravanan, Lokesh Kanagaraj and Arun Prabu Purushothaman and it looks like Tamizh will be the next person to join that list. The film has cinematography by Madhesh Manickam, while the music is composed by Ghibran. Master fame Philomin Raj has handled the film's editing. Anjali Nair who played the female lead in the critically acclaimed Tamil film, Nedunalvaadai, has played the love interest of Vikram Prabhu in Taanakkaran. The shooting of this film has already been completed and the makers are expected to release the film soon in theatres.

We can expect further announcements regarding this film after the release of Karthi's Sulthan which is also bankrolled by the same producers. Apart from Taanakkaran, Vikram Prabhu has several other exciting projects including Mani Ratnam's historical epic, Ponniyin Selvan and all the projects are in different stages of production.
