One of the most successful collaborations, actor Vijay and director Perarasu have churned out two hits together in both their outings in the 2000s further cementing the superstar’s position in ‘B’ and ‘C’ centres across Tamil Nadu and various other locations in South India. Vijay and Perarasu had worked together in back-to-back blockbusters, Thirupaachi and Sivakasi; both films releasing as Pongal and Diwali releases. Since then, the hit director has directed 5 Tamil films among which include Thirupathi with Ajith and Dharmapuri with Vijayakanth while also making his directorial debut in Malayalam with Samrajyam II: Son of Alexander, in 2015, which had Parthiban in a major role. Meanwhile, reports have been circulating across social networking forums stating he will be joining hands with Vijay for the third time for which Perarasu has now issued an official clarification on his Facebook page.

In his statement, director Perarasu states, “There have been reports stating I will be directing Thalapathy 65. I had believed that would just pass away as only a news, but that story has since gone on to develop as a confirmed association once again between me and Thiru. Vijay. It is true that I have prepared a script for Thiru. Vijay. It is also true that I am waiting with my script for Thiru. Vijay’s nod as well. Apart from that, nothing has been set in stone or confirmed as yet. I wish to make clear that me directing Thalapathy 65 is not true and if we come together once again, I will be beyond happy.” Check out Perarasu's statement below:

A while back, Perarasu in an interview had mentioned he had narrated a full-blown political script to Vijay around the time of Sarkar, which eventually didn’t take off. He further added that he was working on a new story that wouldn’t draw any parallels with politics and would be in a completely different pattern. It remains to be seen the kind of story Perarasu has in store for Vijay considering the superstar’s status has since the mid-2000s has gone on to become bigger. As of now, he will be seen next in the much-awaited action sports drama, Bigil, under Atlee’s direction coming out as a Diwali release in October following which he will begin work on the recently announced and the highly anticipated, Thalapathy 64, under director Lokesh Kanagaraj of Maanagaram and Kaithi fame.
