'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi's next film's title is revealed to be DSP and will see him as a police officer once again after he donned the khakhi in Sethupathi (2016) and Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (2018). The upcoming film's first look with the title has been released on Thursday, November 10, and shows the National Award-winning actor as a cop going by the name of M Vascodagama and riding a Royal Enfield motorbike. DSP is directed by Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam and Rajinimurugan fame Ponram and has been announced for a grand theatrical release this December. 

Initially tentatively titled VJS 46, DSP was launched by blockbuster production house Sun Pictures but is now being presented by Karthik Subbaraj's Stone Bench Films banner. The film has been produced by Kaarthekeyan Santhanam and also marks the Tamil cinema debut of Former Miss India World Anukreety Vas, who is cast as the female lead, with Bigg Boss Tamil season 4 fame Shivani Narayanan and Cooku with Comali star Pugazh set to be appearing in pivotal roles. DSP includes a talented technical team on board featuring the likes of music director D. Imman, while the cinematography has been done by Dinesh Krishnan and Venkatesh, and editing by Vivek Harshan. Vijay Sethupathi will be looking to end 2022 on a big note with DSP after his role in Kadaisi Vivasayi earned his appreciation from all corners, while his performances in Kamal Haasan's Vikram, filmmaker Seenu Ramasamy's Maamanithan, and Vignesh Shivan's Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal received strong feedback from fans and critics everywhere. There is quite a lot of buzz surrounding DSP as it also marks the first-time collaboration between Vijay Sethupathi and director Ponram, and it now remains to be seen what the duo has cooked up for audiences.
