Tamil filmmaker M. Manikandan shot to the limelight among film aficionados and movie buffs in the state with his Kaaka Muttai, which he followed up Kuttrame Thandanai and Aandavan Kattalai. All three films went on to be hailed critically, while also garnering a cult following since their release. His next film, Kadaisi Vivasayi, has been carrying a lot of expectations for sometime, with the story revolving around an elderly man named Nallandi, who plays the lead role and, 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi and Yogi Babu cast in supporting roles. There has been a lot of hype surrounding the upcoming film, touted to be a social comedy, with an intriguing trailer released in late 2019 receiving positive feedback from fans. With plenty of talk surrounding the release of Kadaisi Vivasayi for a while now, Vijay Sethupathi Productions on Sunday released the film's second trailer.

The Kadaisi Vivasayi trailer starts off introducing each of the characters amidst a village backdrop and their stories before an unexpected incident leads to the arrest of Nallandi. Kadaisi Vivasayi will draw a lot of buzz with the inclusion of Vijay Sethupathi, who is fresh off from receiving the National Award for Best Supporting Actor after his stellar performance in Super Deluxe. The addition of Yogi Babu too is a big plus as his antics alongside Vijay Sethupathi will no doubt serve plenty of hilarious moments in the film after their chemistry in Aandavan Kattalai under Manikandan’s direction turned out to be a major USP. Announced for a theatrical release in December, no date has formally been revealed yet and can be expected to be out in the days ahead.

Initially, 'Maestro' Ilaiyaraaja was announced to be the music director of Kadaisi Vivasayi, but has now been replaced by Santhosh Narayanan, with BAFTA Award-winning English musician and composer Richard Harvey also being credited for the music, while youth musical sensation Arivu has the lyrics for the songs. Produced by Tribal Arts Production in association with Artists Coupe Private Limited, Kadaisi Vivasayi has cinematography by Manikandan himself, while the film has been edited by B Ajith Kumar and Thotta Tharani is the art director.
