Actor Vijay Sethupathi was recently adjudged the Best Actor - Male award at the10th edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne for his performance in director Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s critically acclaimed, Super Deluxe. Speaking with the media gathered there, Vijay Sethupathi had revealed that discussions were being held to star alongside Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan for an upcoming Hindi film. Although not much has been revealed about which project he is in contention, it is being said the versatile Tamil star is being eyed for a role in the remake of the Hollywood classic, Forrest Gump, titled as Laal Singh Chaddha. A while back, Aamir Khan had visited the sets of Vijay Sethupathi’s next film, Sangha Thamizhan, at Pollachi being directed by Vijay Chander, which immediately set off speculations that the two actors could be collaborating on a venture.

To be directed by Advait Chandan, Laal Singh Chaddha scheduled to roll into production from October is jointly being produced by Viacom 18 Movies and Aamir Khan Productions banners based on a screenplay by Atul Kulkarni. Announced for a Christmas 2020 release, Aamir Khan will be reprising the role played by Tom Hanks, which went on to fetch him the Oscar Award for Best Actor in 1995. Apart from Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir Khan is also set to reprise Vijay Sethupathi’s role from the blockbuster Tamil film, Vikram Vedha, alongside Saif Ali Khan, who will be stepping forward to play the role essayed by Madhavan.
