ThalapathyVijay’s collaboration with director Perarasu turned out to do wonders for the superstar after their Thirupaachi and Sivakasi in 2005 went on to become box office blockbusters. Apart from the films turning out to be money spinners, they further established Vijay as a mass action hero in ‘B’ and ‘C’ centres across Tamil Nadu. The hit director’s last Tamil film was Thiruthani with Bharath in the lead role in 2012 while he also went on to make his directorial debut in Malayalam titled Samrajyam II: Son of Alexander, which had Parthiban in a major role. Now, director Perarasu in a recent interview opened up on the possibility of another film with Vijay saying, "I narrated a full-blown political script to Vijay around the time of Sarkar, which didn’t take off. He liked the story, but didn’t want to take it up since Sarkar too was in the same genre and he said it can be looked at again after sometime. I’m working on a new story that doesn't draw parallels with politics and is in a completely different pattern,".

While it remains to be seen whether Vijay will once again reunite for the third time with director Perarasu, the actor is at present working on his forthcoming action sports drama film, Bigil, under Atlee’s direction being produced by AGS Entertainment in light of its Diwali release in October. Vijay will also begin filming for Thalapathy 64 under Maanagaram and the upcoming Kaithi director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s direction, which is said to be an intense action thriller, with plans for an April or May 2020 release.
