Some sources stated earlier that Vijay is interested to star in the remake of Annamalai (1992) that starred Rajinikanth and Khushboo in the lead roles. But, the actor denied the rumours about playing the lead in it recently. However, the actor said that he would love to reprise the role of the Superstar, if a good director takes up the project.
Also some sources reported that Hansika will be paired opposite Vijay in this remake. But, the actress has rubbished the reports about playing the lead. She said that they are baseless reports and no one has approached her for the role.
