Tamil actor Vadivelu tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday after he returned to Chennai from London yesterday. 'Vaigai Puyal', as he is lovingly called by fans everywhere, the comedy superstar had been in London over the past 10 days to take part in the work for the music of his comeback film, Naai Sekar Returns, to be directed by Suraaj under the Lyca Productions banner. Vadivelu has been admitted to a private hospital in Porur, Chennai. Fans have been sending their wishes to Vadivelu for a speedy recovery from Covid 19 and hope to witness him in action soon.

The news of Vadivelu making his comeback in Naai Sekar Returns was met with a grand response from fans, who have been waiting to watch him once again on the big screen. The star performer has not made appearances in any Tamil films over the past four years and was last seen in 'Thalapathy' Vijay's box office blockbuster, Mersal, directed by Atlee. Naai Sekar Returns is carrying tremendous hype considering the film also marks Vadivelu's reunion with director Suraaj after their Thalai Nagaram (2006), Marudhamalai (2007) and Kaththi Sandai (2016). The first look and motion poster of the film have received a thumping response after a formal pooja was held in Chennai sometime back.

During a press conference for the launch of the upcoming film, Suraaj told media persons that Naai Sekar Returns' story will revolve around Vadivelu and dogs, while adding that there will be no love interest for the comedian. He also mentioned that a popular heroine will be cast as the female lead and will play a crucial role in the proceedings of the story. Naai Sekar Returns’ supporting cast features names like Super Singer and Cooku with Comali fame singer Sivaangi and Doctor sensation Redin Kingsley, followed by Anandaraj, Vigneshkanth, and Lollu Sabha Seshu, with the makers also roping in a talented technical team among whom include art direction by Umesh J Kumar and editing by Selva RK of Karnan and Sarpatta Parambarai fame.
