Recently, a group of Tamil film producers met Kadambur Raju, Minister for Information and Publicity, requesting him and the Tamil Nadu Government to permit the industry to resume post production works. The producers also wrote a letter to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Edappadi K Palaniswami, assuring that precautionary measures would be taken in the editing, dubbing and music studios during the post-production works. The request has now been accepted and the Tamil Nadu Government has announced that the post-production works can resume from the 11th of May, coming Monday.

The ban on the production works (shooting) is still there and the relaxation has been allowed only for post-production works. The Government has allowed the post-production works to resume, but with a few important guidelines, which are expected to be followed. Only a maximum of 5 people will be allowed to work in a studio and they would have to wear masks and maintain social distancing. The studios have to be sanitised properly. The Government has allowed the following departments to resume work from May 11 - Editing, Dubbing, DI, Re-Recording, Sound Designing/Mixing and VFX/Animation.

This news must come as a sigh of relief for the Tamil film producers. The much anticipated films like Master, Soorarai Pottru and Jagame Thandhiram have few more days of post-production works left and probably, the makers of those films will make use of this time and get the film ready, by the time theatres reopen.
