Debutant director Sam Anton's Darling, starring GV Prakash, Srushti Dance and Nikki Galrani along with Karunas and Bala Saravanan was a surprise entry in the Pongal race, competing with Shankar's I and Sundar C's Aambala. A press meet was held with the movie crew this weekend. GV Prakash who earlier started working on Pencil, stated that he started growing a beard when the shooting of Pencil did not happen for almost 3 months.

Surprisingly, this look got him into this movie. He has also composed music for Darling and mentioned that he is currently working as a music director for about 10 films including films with directors Vijay and Vetrimaaran. This young music director turned actor says he will never quit music.

Producer KE Gnanavel Raja reported that they wanted to break the image that Studio Green is always producing big budget movies and that is why, they distributed Attakaththi. Later, they teamed up with the same director and produced Madras, which became one of the biggest hit movies of 2014. They are currently producing Komban and Masss.

The producer also pointed that it is tiresome to fix a title for a movie nowadays because of people registering titles for a long time. He suggested that it would be better to have a validity period for such registrations. He is also happy with Darling, which he says, is 15% better than the original Telugu version. All the best to the entire team of Darling.
