Actor Vishal has been quite vocal about his goal to put and end to video piracy. The actor has repeatedly addressed the issue and has vowed to bring down as many 'pirates' as possible. Late last evening the Internet was rife with news that an admin of TamilRockers had been arrested by the Triplicane D1 police officers. TamilRockers is one of the most popular websites that releases pirated copies of movies few hours after its release. Police have been trying to identify the owner and admin of this website for years now, but in vain. Hence, this news created quite a flurry the Triplicane D1 police station was immediately in the spotlight.

Shortly after the arrest, Vishal arrived at the police station. However, in a brief interaction with the press, he stated that he was not at liberty to reveal the identity of the arrested individual or the website in question. He stated that the police would make an official announcement. Slowly sources from within the police station started trickling out news that the arrested person was Gauri Shankar, an admin of Tamil Gun, another pirate website – not connected to TamilRockers in any way. Some websites have even given unconfirmed information that Vishal and his team had worked hard for over six months to identify, track and eventually lure Gauri Shankar to Chennai, where he was immediately arrested. Neither the police nor Vishal has confirmed this story.

What's interesting (on a lighter note) is that Vishal seems to have played Thupparivalan in real life as well, to bring down a bad guy just like how in 2015 around the release of Paayum Puli (in which he plays a cop) he randomly raided some shops like a real cop – these shops were suspected to have pirated CDs! Talk about taking your job seriously!
