Thoranai Music review

The movie:Starring action hero Vishal and Shriya and directed by Iyappan, Thoranai is a mass entertainer, which also has Prakashraj (one of the most gifted actors today) in a significant role. With the right combination of stars in the lead roles, Vishal is very surethe film will strike the right chord amongst the people. Think Music, based in Chennai, have bought the rights forThoranai songs.

Thoranai Music: Thoranai is a Mani Sharma musical. The prospect of viewing the bubbly pair Vishal and Shirya groovingin the composer’s trademark style offoot-tapping musicraises a lot of expectations from the album. Indeed, Mani Sharma has satisfied the expectations to a great deal. The rest has to be viewed on screen.

‘Manjasela Mandakini’ has a sharply-etched pattern of rhythm. Saindavi and Tippu sing the song. ‘Pattucha’, a teasing romantic melody, is by Janani and Vijay Yesudas. A fine orchestral arrangement and a lovely combination of voices form the highlight of this song. ‘Vaa Chellam’ has its own embellishments. These twin solos, sung by Ranjith and Udit Narayan, are presented separately as two different entries in the album. In fact, from an ordinary viewer's perspective, Ranjith’s voice perfectly suits Vishal’s persona. Could the pep and soul in the song be because of his contemporarypronunciation and attitude? As a composer, Mani Sharma takes a diverse turn from his signature style in the next song ‘Pelican Paravaigal’. Rendered by Ranjith and Reetha, the song has a western influence. Ranjith and Navin share the singing credits in the title number ‘Vedi Vedi Saravedi’, one of those classical heroic renditions that go to adorn the hero’s status and hisachievements.

Thoranai music has an interestingly unpredictable element.
