Debutant director Thiagarajan Kumararaja is still in shock after winning the National for the best debut talent. “It has not yet sunk in! I am looking at the news about the award like as though it is happening to some else,” the director said to Galatta.com after winning the Indhira Gandhi award for the Best Debut Film for his movie Aaranya Kandam. Now the director is planning to re-release the films again in theatres. The movie created international buzz when it won the Grand Jury Award for Best Film at the South Asian Film Festival. The film is a fine example of maturity and understanding of the craft. Apart from that the brilliant editing by Pravin K.L. and Srikanth also bagged another National award.

Commercial success eluded the dark action flick which boasted of Jackie Shroff in a pivotal role. But the award has sealed the deal. “Of course, it feels great. I am especially happy for my producers who invested in my dream. I guess, the award might pave way for my next movie - now producers and actors will be more confident in my work,”  the happy debutant added!
