One of this year's most-anticipated movie, The Lion King is directed and produced by Jon Favreau and is written by Jeff Nathanson. The movie is produced under the banner of Walt Disney Pictures. The film is the photorealistic computer-animated remake of Disney's traditionally animated 1994 blockbuster film of the same name. The Lion King had huge hype and expectation as the older animated version is a personal favourite and a close one to the heart for many. The plot follows Simba, a young lion who must embrace his role as the rightful king of his native land following the murder of his father, Mufasa, at the hands of his uncle, Scar.
Following the reception for Hollywood movies in India, the majority of the films have been dubbed into major languages in the country to cover more audience over the years. The Lion King was also dubbed in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. In the Tamil version, popular actors Siddharth, Arvind Swami, Aishwarya Rajesh, Robo Shankar and Singam Puli were roped in to lend their voice for the lead character Simba, Scar, Nala, Pumba and Timon respectively.
The movie released in Indian on July 19th and opened to some good reviews. Following high footfalls, many theatres have increased the number of shows for the film in the city. As the movie eyes major records at the box-office, the makers have released the Arvind Swami's dubbing session as a video as a promotional strategy.
