'Thalapathy’ Vijay’s Bigil released as a Diwali treat last year under the AGS Entertainment banner turned out a money-spinner at the box office and is one of the highest-grossing films in the superstar's illustrious career. Directed by Atlee, the action sports entertainer featured chart-buster music by Oscar-winning composer A. R. Rahman, with the 'Verithanam' and 'Singappenney' tracks turning out to be colossal hits. With the film nearing a year since its theatrical release, producer Archana Kalpathi has now issued a statement recollecting the film's audio launch, which was held on September 19 last year. 

Taking to her Twitter page, Archana Kalpathi tweeted, "An unforgettable moment. I never thought I will ever say this but I actually miss giving updates #Bigil A big thank you to our very own #Thalapathy @actorvijay Sir @arrahman Sir @Atlee_dir #Nayan and the entire cast and crew #1YearOfBigilAudioLaunch". Archana Kalpathi had a busy time prior to the release of the film as she would have thousands of requests from fans for an update on an everyday basis. Her rapport with the fans won her a lot of adulation, who has since gone on to become a favorite among 'Thalapathy' fans everywhere. 

Bigil was made at an estimated budget of Rs 180 crores and went on to collect more than Rs 250 crores at the box office and was declared the highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2019 in the world. The film features Vijay in dual roles as father (Rayappan) and son (Michael aka. Bigil) and also marks the first occasion the superstar’s three consecutive films surpassed 250 crores in box office collections after Mersal and Sarkar. Vijay was paired opposite Nayanthara in the film, which also had veteran Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff as the antagonist, followed by Yogi Babu, Anandaraj, Kathir, Vivek, former Indian football star IM Vijayan, Indhuja, Daniel Balaji, Vivek, Varsha Bollamma, Amritha Iyer, Soundararaja, Gayathri Reddy, Aadhirai Soundarajan, Indraja Shankar, Devadarshini, Dheena among others in major supporting roles.

Fans remember Bigil particularly for Vijay's physical efforts to nail the role of a footballer and also for portraying the aged Rayappan character, who has since gone on to become a cult favorite among fans. Post the release of the film, a large number of them took to social media to express their desire to see a prequel movie based on the origins of the Rayappan character.
