The countdown is now on for the worldwide theatrical release of one of the year’s most-awaited films, ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s Bigil, under director Atlee, which incidentally is their third-time association after previous blockbusters, Theri and Mersal. Produced by AGS Entertainment and featuring chartbuster songs by A. R. Rahman, Bigil was officially announced yesterday to be hitting screens on October 25 as a Diwali treat. With almost a week left for its theatrical release, Creative Producer Archana Kalpathi has now announced on Twitter that they have come on board to promote football on the grassroots level by collaborating with the Indian Super League football team, Chennaiyin FC, while also sharing a picture of her sister, Aishwarya Kalpathi, exchanging jerseys with the team’s manager, John Gregory. For fans who do not follow football on a regular basis, the Chennaiyin FC team is owned by Vita Dani, Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan and Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni after being founded in August 2014 and went on to win the Championship in the 2015 and 2017–18 seasons, making them the joint highest winners of the league along with Atlético de Kolkata (ATK). With the hype surrounding Bigil at an all-time high, we can expect a new craze for football to shoot up after the film arrives in theatres next week. Excitement for the film too has skyrocketed especially after the release of the film’s action-packed trailer, which came out last week and has left fans of Vijay mighty happy and satisfied. Apart from delights in the form of Vijay playing dual roles and A. R. Rahman’s smash hit songs, there is plenty to look forward to in Bigil in terms of the high-end visuals, which we can expect to be top-notch during the football sequences.
