A film that is being billed as a blockbuster already before its theatrical release, ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s Bigil, coming out under the AGS Entertainment banner featuring music by Oscar winner A. R. Rahman is slated to hit screens this Diwali in October. Director Atlee has teamed up with Vijay for the third time after their previous two box office successes, Theri and Mersal, and is at present overseeing the post-production works with his team. Both the released tracks from the film - ‘Singappenney’ and ‘Verithanam’ - have gone on to become chartbusters among fans. With the Bigil audio launch announced earlier this week to take place on September 19 in Chennai, the film’s Creative Producer, Archana Kalpathi, has dropped another major announcement saying the live telecast of the event wasn’t going to be technically possible as it was a weekday (Thursday) while also adding that they wanted to fix a date where the entire cast and crew could come together and celebrate the grand bash as a “milestone”. That said, the Bigil audio launch will be telecast on broadcasting giant, Sun TV network, on September 22 (Sunday) at 6.30PM.
Bigil is the fifth time that A. R. Rahman has composed music for a Vijay film after their previous collaborations namely Udhaya, Azhagiya Tamil Magan, Mersal and last year’s Sarkar. An action sports drama, the film will see Vijay in dual roles as father and son in the same time period and also as the coach of the Tamil Nadu women’s football team. A multi-starrer, Bigil has Nayanthara playing the female lead followed by Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff, Kathir, Indhuja, Amritha Aiyer, Reba Monica John, Varsha Bollamma, Gayathri Reddy, Vivek, Yogi Babu, Dheena, ‘Thaadi’ Balaji, Devadarshini among others in major supporting roles.
