Vijay's much-awaited Thalaivaa, directed by Vijay, finally received an U certificate with minor cuts from the revising committee. Earlier, the film was awarded an UA certificate however the producers have approached the revising committee for an U certificate. The film, which has been grabbing the eyeballs ever-since its launch, is all set to hit screens on Aug 9. Thalaivaa is a political thriller with Amala Paul as Ilayathalapathy's leading lady. Another major highlight of the film is veteran actor Sathyaraj, who plays Vijay's godfather. Also in the star-cast Santhanam, Ragini Nandwani, Abhimanyu Singh, Nassar, Rajiv Pillai, Udhaya, Ponvannan, Y. Gee. Mahendra, Suresh, Manobala, Subbu Panchu, Thambi Ramaiah, Rekha and Ravi Prakash.

The film is titled as Anna Born to Lead in Telugu. Produced by Chandra Prakash Jain, C.P. Sunil and C.P. Dinesh under Sri Mishri Productions, Thalaivaa is released by Vendhar Movies. Thalaivaa is also the first Tamil film to be released with Dolby Atmos technology.
