Actor Suriya’s speech recently on the National Education Policy Draft at a press conference held by the Agaram Foundation went on to become viral after the star expressed his anguish and disappointment at the current education system. In his speech, the star had raised many thought-provoking questions while also urging the people to engage in discussions which led to opposition coming as well from several political leaders. Soon after, actor turned politician Kamal Haasan had expressed his support for Suriya’s words and efforts to shed light on the the education system. Now, Suriya has released a new press release on behalf of the Agaram Foundation in which goes on to talk about the drastic changes and difficulties students and parents have been enduring after the NEET and Entrance Examinations were introduced. He states, "Education should not be easily accessible only to the rich, but also be available for the poor. One doesn’t have to look at statistics to realize this, as conscience alone will suffice."

Suriya further added saying, "Till date under the Agaram Foundation, around 3000 students have gotten the opportunity to proceed for higher studies. Among them, 1,169 students have taken up engineering, 1,234 students are studying in the arts & science stream, 54 students are studying medicine, 285 students are in para medical courses and 167 students are in diploma courses. Among all these students, almost 90% of them are first generation graduates in their families and are making a name for themselves from ITI to IIT colleges."
