Suman celebrates birthday
Suman, who started his film career with Neechal Kulam in 1977, went on to establish himself in Telugu movies. He came back in 1981 in Thee (Tamil) as Rajnikanth’s brother. Born on August 28th, 1959 in Chennai to Tulu-speaking parents, he is an only son. He was schooled at Theosophical High School, Chennai.
Well-accomplished in martial arts, he is a black belt in Karate and a student of Kalari Payiut, which is apparent in all his movies as he had one of the best-maintained physiques in South Indian films, during a time when no one in the film industry thought bodybuilding was important.
Married with a daughter, Suman is one of the most prolific actors, doing every role from hero to villain with élan. One of his most memorable roles in recent times was his deviously wicked turn as the dhoti-clad soft-spoken villain in the Rajnikanth starrer Sivaji The Boss. In fact, Sivaji marked his return to Tamil films, with Suman giving a superbly chilling performance in the Vijay starrer Kuruvi. Right now, he’s having a ball, playing the villain in a couple of Tamil movies: Ajit’s Aegan and Padikathavan starring Dhanush.
Being fluent in Tulu, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and English, Suman has had ample opportunities to act in many movies where he has been able to display his acting talents to the utmost. His recent flick Adi Vishnu (Telugu) sees him again as a minister who is a villain. Vaana, Pourudu and Toss were among his recent Telugu blockbusters.
