There was a stampede among the fans outside the Eden Gardens, when a large crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of their winning KKR team. The West Bengal state government had arranged for a four hour long felicitation programme for the Kolkata Knight Riders today. However, the stampede began when they were denied entry into the grounds which was completely packed with no seats. Only after police interrupted, the situation came under control. The police denied that they indulged in lathicharge to bring the situation under control.

KKR co-owner Shahrukh Khan and Juhi Chawla with their franchise heads along with West Bengal Governor MK Narayanan, Chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Railway minister Mukul Roy were present at the event.
