Popular Telugu serial actress Sravani Kondapalli committed suicide by hanging herself in her house at Madhuranagar, SR Nagar police limits, in Hyderabad on September 8. The 26-year-old actress had attained a good fan following after starring in hit TV serials such as Mouna Ragam and Manasu Mamata. Her family had then filed a police case with officials since then arresting one Devaraj Reddy alias Sunny, whom Sravani had befriended on TikTok, including one Sai Kumar Reddy. Cops who were investigating the case had also named RX 100 producer Ashok Reddy Gummakonda as another accused, who had since been absconding. However, the Hyderabad Police on Wednesday arrested the popular Telugu film producer and have booked a case on him as well.

Ashok Reddy, who is the third accused in actress Sravani Kondapalli's suicide case, had switched off his mobile phone and had been evading the police. Having said that, he has now been sent to judicial custody for abetment to suicide along with Sai Kumar Reddy and Devaraj Reddy. Prior to his arrest, producer Ashok Kumar was taken to a hospital for a health check-up and is set to appear before the court on Thursday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) A. R. Srinivas later issued a statement saying Sravani had met Ashok Reddy in 2017 and he had offered her a small role in the film Prematho Mee Karthik after which a friendship developed between the two.

Earlier, there were reports stating that Ashok Reddy and Sai Kumar Reddy were in a relationship with Sravani and that a conflict arose between them after she had gotten close with Devaraj Reddy. It was at this juncture that Ashok Reddy and Sai Kumar Reddy had taken to harassing the actress and made efforts to keep her away from Devaraj. Furthermore, the police had said earlier this week that they had come in possession of recordings allegedly between the three accused and Sravani, in which the actress was heard threatening to kill herself due to the stress that she was being put through.
