At the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), Tamil movies are an entertainment for many. Despite being just an entertainment, the movies are screened once a month at the institute because, it also acts as a form of a therapy to the patients. A huge crowd has began to watch Tamil flicks regularly.

On account of an occasion, a group of patients from the institute were taken to the theatre for Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. Earlier at the Industrial Therapy Centre on campus, the institute had screenings of movies for female patients. Lately, this recreational initiative was extended to the male patients as well. The doctors and social welfare officers at IMH also added that the movie screening has become a routine, and that they are screening a Tamil movie once in a month using a projector.

They had also mentioned that the doctors choose the movies and ensure that the films have the permission to be screened. Instead of the movies filled with violence, the doctors pick movies that are comedic in nature. And screening movies enables the patients to interact with each other, which in turn paves a way for the patients to know the debutantes. A social welfare officer also stated they have been screening actor Sivakarthikeyan's movies for the female patients, because of its extensive comic element.
