Sivakarthikeyan's next big film Maaveeran began rolling in July last year and has been carrying tremendous excitement right from the get-go. However, there have been reports in certain sections of the media stating that filming on the upcoming venture had been stalled due to differences between the leading Tamil actor and the film's director Madonne Ashwin, followed by rumors about a financial crunch on the production front, including talks about how the team had been unsatisfied after watching the footage shot so far. Having said that, the production banner Shanthi Talkies on late Wednesday evening, January 25, posted a kural from celebrated Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar's Thirukkuraḷ quashing the reports calling them "baseless rumors", while requesting fans to not believe in any of the statements being circulated online and further informed them that the Maaveeran team is "working progressively to deliver a memorable film."

Maaveeran's producer Arun Viswa too has expressed his anguish over the false news and urged those who have carried such reports to verify with the team or their PRO in the future before they publish or run a story. He tweeted, "How can influencers,trackers,verified handles and even news channels carry baseless allegations and make news out of it!? Loads of young talents and loads of money at stake! Kindly verify with the team or PRO before you post!🙏❤️"

Maaveeran is billed to be an exciting family entertainer and is one of the biggest films currently in production being planned for a grand theatrical release this year. The film is Madonne Ashwin's second venture after he won two awards - Best Debut Film of a Director and Best Screenplay (Dialogues) - at the 68th National Film Awards for his directorial debut, Mandela, starring Yogi Babu in the lead role released in 2021. Maaveeran has Sivakarthikeyan paired with Aditi Shankar of Viruman fame and the film will be her second big-screen appearance, with acclaimed filmmaker Mysskin and Telugu actor Sunil of Pushpa fame playing the antagonists, while the supporting cast features Saritha and Yogi Babu. Madonne Ashwin is once again collaborating with Bharath Sankar after Mandela for the film's music, which will be released on the Saregama South audio label.
