All of us remember the mega hit song 'Singam Pola Nadandhu Varaan' from Chiyaan Vikram's blockbuster hit Dhool. This movie, which was directed by Dharani, marked the acting debut of folk singer Paravai Muniyamma, who also sung the famous hit song. Since then, she has acted in over 30 movies but has now been out of action for quite a while. Having lost her husband and bringing up a physically challenged son, took quite a toll on the veteran singer's health and when in hospital, she reached out to the government for help and the erstwhile Chief Minister Dr. J. Jayalalitha earmarked a fund of Rs. 6 lakhs as fixed deposit in Muniyamma's name and also allocated a monthly pension of Rs. 6000. Now, Paravai Muniyamma has come out with a new appeal.

New request from Paravai Muniyamma

Having again taken critically ill and obtaining treatment in the hospital, Muniyamma has appealed to the state government to continue providing the pension amount to her physically challenged son, even if anything unfortunate were to happen to her. This is indeed a heartwrenching appeal and we hope the concerned authorities look into this and take the necessary steps. After her star-power in movies began to wane, Paravai Muniyamma even forayed onto the small screen and got to have her own cookery show too. She has performed in over 2000 stage shows, including cities abroad.

New request from Paravai Muniyamma

Recently, the Tamil Nadu State Government awarded Paravai Muniyamma with the Kalaimamani award for the year 2012. We sincerely hope somebody takes up the issue of this veteran singer & actor and provide her some relief! Galatta Media also wishes her a speedy recovery...
