One of the most flamboyant stars in Tamil cinema, Simbu, lovingly called by fans as STR was announced not long back to be part of Studio Green’s upcoming venture, which also includes actor Gautham Karthik under Narthan’s direction. It has now been revealed that production on STR 45 will kick off shooting starting today (June 15), but it is unknown whether Simbu too will be joining the ongoing shoot.

Director Narthan began his filmmaking career in Kannada with the blockbuster Mufti, which had Shiva Rajkumar playing an underworld don and Srimurali appearing as a police officer. Although not much has been revealed as yet, there is speculation that STR 45 is a remake of Mufti with Simbu and Gautham Karthik reprising the roles of Shiva Rajkumar and Srimurali.

Apart from STR 45, Simbu will next be seen in an extended cameo in the upcoming action thriller, Maha, which has Hansika in the lead role and incidentally makes it a reunion for the two on the big screen after their Vaalu in 2015. The superstar is also all set to begin filming the highly anticipated, Maanaadu, under Venkat Parabhu’s direction later this month. The action political thriller is already carrying massive excitement as it includes composer Yuvan Shankar Raja for the music, Kalyani Priyadarshan as the female lead and is being produced under Suresh Kamatchi’s V House Productions banner.
