2021 is set to be a great year ahead for Silambarasan TR as he will be starting off with his much-awaited rural action family entertainer Eeswaran as a Pongal release in less than two weeks. Having completed Eeswaran last year before Diwali, STR's Maanaadu had wrapped up a big schedule after resuming in November, with producer Suresh Kamatchi delighting fans that they will be treated to two big surprises in the days ahead. He announced on the occasion of New Year that Simbu's Maanaadu motion poster will be dropping for Pongal, while the highly-anticipated teaser from the film will be released on the multi-talented star's birthday on February 3.

Taking to Twitter, producer Suresh Kamatchi of V House Productions tweeted, "Get Ready for #STRKondaattam We, #Maanaadu Team Planned to Release #MaanaaduMotionPoster On #ThamizharThiruNaal . And #Teaser On our @SilambarasanTR_  's Birthday. Happy New Year All !! @vp_offl @Richardmnathan @thisisysr @kalyanipriyan @iam_SJSuryah @johnmediamanagr". Being directed by Venkat Prabhu, the next schedule for Maanaadu is expected to begin in a few days as STR has returned after his pilgrimage to Sabarimala, with the film billed to be a mass masala political action entertainer. Simbu's Maanaadu will incidentally mark the first occasion he will be collaborating on a full-length venture with Venkat Prabhu after he appeared in a cameo in the director's 2010 hit Goa. Yuvan Shankar Raja is scoring the music, who has been a regular contributor on both STR and Venkat Prabhu's films, with expectations that the celebrated composer will churn out foot-tapping numbers once again.

Maanaadu will also be the first time ever Silambarasan will be seen playing the role of a Muslim, with his character name in the film revealed to be as Abdul Khaliq. Expectations for Maanaadu have been sky-high ever since the project was first announced in mid-2018, with the film packaging in a stellar and diverse multi-star cast that includes names like Kalyani Priyadarshan playing the female lead, followed by SJ Suryah, Karunakaran, Premgi Amaren, Manoj Bharathiraja, Daniel Annie Pope, Y. Gee. Mahendra and veteran directors SA Chandrasekhar and Bharathiraja in pivotal roles. Another major strength to STR's Maanaadu is its technically stellar crew that includes talents namely Richard M. Nathan for the cinematography, Praveen K. L. for the editing, Rajeevan for the production design, action choreography by 'Stunt' Silva and costume designs by Vasuki Bhaskar.
