With the release of The Batman taking over the world at a quicker pace than COVID-19 itself, fans have been left to wonder and wait for the production house that bankrolled it to announce any information about its other films that are on its line of release. Any news was expected to be something good because obviously nobody likes bad news. But unfortunately Warner Bros. has come up with some hard-hitting news regarding its upcoming film's release dates. A number of its future movie's release dates have been pushed by months. But there is still hope as a single ray of sunshine shines upon us with an announcement regarding Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

The film which was initially scheduled for a 2 June 2023 release, has now been bumped up by several months and will instead be releasing on December 16, 2022. It will be taking the place of another superhero sequel (Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom) which was set to release on the same day originally but has been postponed to 17 March 2023 due to COVID-induced production delays with visual effects. As a result, Shazam's sequel will directly going head-to-head against James Cameron's Avatar 2. It will be interesting to watch this colossal Battle of the Sequels and see who comes out more victorious at the box office.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods' director David F. Sandberg took to Twitter after the news of Warner Bros. shift in release dates to comment on his film's surprising new debut. Sandberg started a series of thread starting with, "That's right, Shazam 2 is getting released 6 months earlier and now comes this December!".

The director then poked fun at his competition, and joked, "Going up against Avatar 2. Poor James Cameron must be shaking in his boots right now...."

He concluded by pointing out the irony of how Shazam 1 was a Christmas movie released in April and Shazam 2 is a summer movie getting released at Christmas and went on the label it as the Shazam way.
