Director Sudha Kongara who garnered attention with the Madhavan - Ritika Singh starrer Irudhi Suttru is currently awaiting the release of her next film, Soorarai Pottru. This Suriya starrer will have a direct OTT release on Prime Video platform on October 30 and it is indeed a pathbreaking move. The decision to release the film on OTT platform has created a huge buzz on social media and notably, it has become one of the first big league films to skip theatrical release during this pandemic. Sudha Kongara is said to have showcased a different side of Suriya in this film and we already saw an interesting glimpse of it in the teaser. The fans are quite excited about the film and let us hope that it fulfills their expectations. With Soorarai Pottru, Sudha is now one of the leading and promising directors in Tamil cinema and the fans are eagerly waiting for her next set of ventures.

It is a known fact that Sudha Kongara and three other directors - Vetri Maaran, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Vignesh Shivan have worked together on an anthology film (comprising four short stories) for Netflix and we had also updated about it. Having said that, it has now been officially revealed that Sudha Kongara’s short portion (with a runtime of approx. 30 minutes) will feature Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, Kalidas Jayaram and Bhavani Sre (G.V.Prakash’s sister) in the lead roles. Though there were reports about the cast already, the news was officially confirmed for the first time yesterday (August 24) when Shanthnu posted a throwback picture from the sets. He posted a selfie picture with Kalidas, Bhavani Sre and Sudha.

It is said that Sudha’s portion has been shot in a hill station locality. This Netflix anthology film will be based on the theme of honour killing and it is expected to release in the next few months. Vetri Maaran’s portion will feature Prakash Raj and Sai Pallavi as the leads, while Vignesh Shivan’s portion will have Anjali and Kalki Koechlin playing the lead roles.
