The cricket based sports drama Jersey turned out to become one of the biggest hits in Tollywood, this year! This movie starred Natural Star Nani and Shraddha Srinath in the lead with Nani playing the role of an ageing cricketer who revives his career and goes on to make it big. The success of Jersey meant that it would naturally be remade in other languages with the Hindi and Tamil remakes being announced already. It has been reported that Shahid Kapoor would be starring in the Hindi remake of Jersey and we now have an exciting update on this project's female lead!

Leading industry analyst Taran Adarsh has reported that Mrunal Thakur has been signed up as the female lead for the Hindi remake of Jersey. Lovely lass Mrunal entered movies with Marathi cinema before debuting in Bollywood as Hrithik Roshan's love interest in the blockbuster hit Super 30! She played Ritu Rashmi to Hrithik's Anand Kumar in this biographical film, based on the life of famous mathematician Anand Kumar. Mrunal was next seen alongside John Abraham in the recently released action thriller Batla House, which was inspired from a real life encounter!

Shahid Kapoor was recently seen in Kabir Singh, the Hindi remake of the blockbuster Telugu movie Arjun Reddy. The movie turned out to be an overwhelming hit and Shahid's role of a lover-boy medical student turned heartbroken and angry drunken surgeon, was well received by the audiences. The Hindi remake of Jersey will also be directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who helmed the original too. This project is to be produced jointly by Aman Gill, Allu Aravind and Dil Raju and is touted to hit the screens on August 28th, 2020! Keep watching this space for more updates...
