Shahid Kapoor's Jersey, the Hindi remake of the critically acclaimed super hit Telugu film of the same title, is scheduled to release in theatres on December 31, the last day of this year. The original version of Jersey featured Nani and Shraddha Srinath in the lead roles and they have now been replaced by Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur in the Hindi remake. The film is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri who helmed the original. Earlier today (November 23), the makers unveiled the official trailer of the film and it looks quite promising and interestingly done. Though the trailer doesn't have the magic of the original version, the work looks neat.

Shahid Kapoor as the protagonist looks solid, managing to leave a very good impression among the viewers. It looks like Jersey will be a film that will stand high in Shahid Kapoor's filmography. Anirudh Ravichander's pumping background score adds strength to the trailer and his work in the film is going to be one of the major highlights. Watch out for the iconic railway station scene.

The film's official synopsis as stated by the makers read, "An ex-cricketer struggling to make ends meet, wants to fulfill his child's wish of getting a Jersey but in the process comes face to face with his heroic past and is forced to decide if he will rise to the occasion and become a symbol of hope or continue to live a life as a loser? A heartwarming story starring Shahid Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapoor that will make you embrace your dreams, hopes and family!". Produced by Dil Raju, Naga Vamsi and Aman Gill, the film has cinematography by Anil Mehta and editing by Naveen Nooli.
