Dhanush made his directorial debut with Pa Paandi, that starred Rajkiran in the lead role. Revathi, Prasanna, Chaya Singh, Madonna Sebastian played the supporting roles in the film. Produced by Wunderbar Films, Pa Paandi managed to become a successful venture at the box office and it also received a very positive response from the fans and general audience. Sean Roldan scored the music for the film and his soulful music was a big asset for the film and it helped in elevating the overall mood of the film. Following the success of Pa Paandi, Dhanush’s second directorial project was announced and it took the fans by total excitement. It was announced that the film will star Dhanush, Aditi Rao Hydari, Nagarjuna Akkineni, S.J.Surya, and Srikanth will play the lead roles. The film was bankrolled by Murali Ramasamy and Hema Rukmani’s Thenandal Studios Limited.

After shooting for a few days, the film was stalled due to production related issues and there has been no development since then. However, a few weeks back, there were reports that the film’s shooting is going to be resumed after the lockdown and Dhanush is taking all necessary steps to put the film back on track. Having said that, we got in touch with music director of the project, Sean Roldan to know about the current status. To our surprise, he revealed some interesting details about the film and said that DD 2 could be Tamil cinema’s Baahubali.

He said, “To be honest, I am not concrete about the current status of the film. I do know that there is some development regarding the project, but I am not in a position to tell since I myself do not know about it surely. When the project began, I was really excited and thought it would be great if the film is completed and released. Just like how Baahubali turned the table for Telugu cinema, this project was capable of doing that for Tamil cinema. It would be the biggest turning point for the industry. Dhanush is the best actor we have right now and there are no doubts about it. I feel people would see the director inside Dhanush with this film and he would shine as a filmmaker. We have infact completed the music album. First half of the shooting is also over. But due to some unexpected situations, there were certain delays and I wish the film gets resumed and released very soon.” Wow! That sounds interesting, right?

This second directorial project of Dhanush is touted to be titled as Naan Rudhran, but the makers haven’t confirmed or denied it yet. A certain section of media reports also state that Dhanush’s brother Selvaraghavan might direct a few portions of the film. We will have to wait for an official word regarding that.
