Thalapathy Vijay's last release Sarkar, which was directed by AR Murugadoss, turned out to become a blockbuster hit. This movie saw Vijay as an NRI whose vote gets illegally cast by somebody else and what he does to reclaim his right to vote. Starring Keerthy Suresh as the female lead, Sarkar had quite a social impact too. It is common knowledge that Vijay has now completed shooting for his next movie Bigil, directed by Atlee. In Sarkar, it was Yogi Babu's character who illegally cast Vijay's vote following which he joined Vijay and became his assistant in the movie. Now, it is also known that Yogi Babu is playing an important role in Bigil too. In a scene where a politician comes to Vijay's area asking for his support in the upcoming elections, one of the politician's goons is said to threaten Vijay. The goon reportedly threatens Vijay that he has the capability to cast the latter's vote illegally. To this statement, Yogi Babu is said to reply that he himself has already done that and that is the reason he has now become Vijay's assistant. Apparently, Yogi Babu is referencing to the scene from Sarkar.

Vijay is said to be playing the roles of both father and son. Bigil is fast nearing the end of the post production work and getting ready to hit the screens for this Deepavali.
