One of Tamil cinema's most beloved couples, actress Saranya and actor Ponvannan have been setting relationship goals for many years and recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. The popular Tamil cinema couple have two daughters - Priyadarshini Ponvannan and Chandni Ponvannan. Among them, Priyadarashini got engaged in a private ceremony in Chennai in the presence of family members and close friends. A doctor by profession, Priyadarshini got engaged to Vignesh in a grand ceremony, with pictures of the event going viral on social media. With the engagement now over, the Priyadarshini-Vignesh wedding date is expected to come out in the form of an announcement in the days ahead. 

Saranya along with her husband Ponvannan, their second daughter Chandni, including the bride-to-be Priyadarshini were seen in matching blue attire at the engagement ceremony. In the pictures, we see both Saranya and Ponvannan beaming happily at their elder daughter's big day, with wishes pouring in from all those who were gathered at the engagement function. The engagement saw only limited guests in attendance, with the ceremony taking place in line with the COVID-19 norms, and fans now wishing the to-be-married couple the best for a grand wedding. 

Both Saranya and Ponvannan have carved a niche for themselves in Tamil cinema over the years as highly-skilled actors and have delivered several memorable films across all genres. Daughter of the acclaimed Malayalam director A. B. Raj, Saranya Ponvannan made her acting debut as a heroine in 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan's cult classic blockbuster gangster drama Nayagan under Mani Ratnam's direction. Her performance impressed many at the time of the film's release, with praises coming her way stating that she didn't seem like a debutant on screen and carried her role with ease. Post Nayagan, there was no looking back and Saranya soon went on to star in several big films as the female lead before making a transition as a character actor and specializing in mother roles. Saranya went on to play mother to several top and leading Tamil cinema stars over the years, while also going on to win the National Award for Best Actress for her performance in director Seenu Ramasamy's Thenmerku Paruvakaatru in 2011. 

Similarly, Ponvannan went on make it big in Tamil cinema in character roles and has also made a mark playing the villain in many notable blockbusters among which include director Bharathiraja's Karuthamma, Ameer's Paruthiveeran starring Karthi and Priya Mani in the lead roles and most recently in Selvaraghavan's NGK, which had Suriya playing the hero. Ponvannan, who is currently acting in Radhika Sarathkumar's Chithi 2 TV serial being telecast on Sun TV, has also directed three films to date.
