Comedian turned hero Santhanam has had two releases this year - Parris Jayaraj and Dikkilona - both of which served as good entertainers for families in theatres. Santa, as the actor is lovingly called by fans, was also revealed sometime back to be starring in the Tamil remake of the smash hit Telugu investigative comedy thriller film, Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya, with filming commencing in February earlier this year and the production getting wrapped in August. Directed by Manoj Beedha of Vanjagar Ulagam fame, the upcoming remake of Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya has Santhanam reprising the role of Telugu hero Naveen Polishetty, with the Tamil version's title revealed as Agent Kannayiram on Saturday.

Being produced under the Labrynth Films banner, the venture was initially being called as Production No. 2, with blockbuster Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj of the 'Thalapathy' Vijay-starrer Master fame taking to social media to announce Santhanam's new film title. Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is currently directing Vikram starring Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil, tweeted, "Here is the First Look of #AgentKannayiram. Happy to see @iamsanthanam sir in @manojbeedha_dir’s direction, I really enjoyed #vanjagarulagam and now I'm curious to watch this combo soon. Best wishes to @thisisysr @Labrynth_Films and the whole team." Check out the Agent Kannayiram first look below:

Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya, on which Agent Kannayiram will be based on, had Chhichhore fame Naveen Polishetty playing the role of a rookie detective, with the film going on to garner a positive feedback from fans and critics alike. The Tamil remake will see Santhanam sharing screen space with Urvasi, Munishkanth, Cooku with Comali fame Pugazh and several others, with celebrated composer Yuvan Shankar Raja coming on board for the film's music.
