Leading Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra's The Girl on the Train recently premiered on Netflix, with all sights set already on her next, Saina. A biopic on Indian badminton superstar Saina Nehwal, the film directed by Amole Gupte is all set to release in theatres on March 26. Parineeti, who replaced Shraddha Kapoor for the role in the biopic, had undergone extensive badminton training to portray the Padma Bhushan award winner, with the film's trailer now out.

Parineeti's Saina trailer kicks off with the sporting superstar's inspirational run to glory in badminton, including the ups and downs that come her way. We see in the trailer a little Saina and how her mother gives her the motivation to create a path of success of her own. As the Saina trailer progresses, Parineeti is revealed and shown to be sporting the iconic mole on her cheek akin to the real Saina Nehwal. The 2 minutes 48 seconds trailer further goes on to show Saina's inspiring journey to reach the number 1 position, including shedding light on the gender-related taboos in the society and the people who serve to be the power behind her achievements.

Although focused extensively on Parineeti's Saina, we also get glimpses of the character's parents and coach, played by Manav Kaul, giving her the confidence throughout her quest for success to become the first Indian badminton player to win an Olympic medal, including five medals in the Commonwealth Games, and eventually come out to be the only Indian woman badminton player to become world No. 1. Speaking about her role in Saina, Parineeti a while back said, "Everything is quite surreal. What I have achieved in life is all due to the constant support of my family. It has been my huge honour to play a sport I love and put my country on a pedestal while achieving my dream. Parineeti is a fabulous actor and we both connected so easily when we met. I wish the team all the best for the film and hope everyone leaves the theatre with dreams."

Apart from Parineeti and Manav Kaul, Saina has Meghna Malik, Subhrajyoti Barat, Ankur Vikal among others in vital roles, with  music by Amaal Malik, cinematography by Piyush Shah and editing done by Deepa Bhatia. The film has been jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series Films in association with Front Foot Pictures banners, with distribution being done by AA Films.
