RJ Balaji is one of the most popular RJ's who turned an actor and played a number of supporting roles, before turning a hero with the early 2019 release LKG. His stocks are on the rise and he is being approached by a number of filmmakers to play lead roles as well as pivotal character roles, alongside top heroes. Recently, Galatta Media conducted the second edition of the unique Galatta Nakshatra Awards (GNA 2019), which is the only awards show to celebrate talents from the field of TV, radio and online platforms, all on the same stage. At this ceremony, RJ Balaji was felicitated with the 'Most Impactful Celebrity on Social Media' Award and it was handed over to him by none other than the one and only Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan.

After receiving this award, RJ Balaji thanked the organisers for getting him a chance to meet Kamal Haasan in person and then revealed a shocking news. He stated that he had been approached to play a role in Kamal Haasan's upcoming movie Indian 2. RJ Balaji also stated that it was a godsent opportunity as he was a big fan of Kamal Haasan and also director Shankar. However, he revealed that unfortunately, he could not take up the role due to some prior commitments. He also wished that he got a chance to act alongside Kamal Haasan, sometime in the future. There was also a Q&A session, where RJ Balaji posed a few questions to Kamal Haasan.

While receiving the award, RJ Balaji also opened up on how the spark happened in him, to work for some change in society. He stated that when all across Chennai, tender coconuts were being sold for Rs. 50-60, he noticed one vendor in Alwarpet selling it for Rs. 30-35. Wondering if those were old coconuts, he went and asked the vendor the details. The vendor has supposedly told RJ Balaji that the competition for selling tender coconuts was very high, so he had decided to lower his profit margin and was thus making more sales and earning more money. In the following days, RJ Balaji had come to see that tender coconut vendors in other areas too had begun lowering their selling prices. This incident has sparked a thought in RJ Balaji that a single person can make a significant change in society without even raising their voice.
