Ravi Verman turns to direction

Cinematographer Ravi Verman is also turning to direction like many others of his tribe. Known for his great work in Vettayadu Vilayadu, Dasavadharam, Villu and the Hindi movie Phir Milenge, Ravi said it was a learning experience getting to direct Moscovin Kaveri, now getting ready for release.

In attempting the tried and trusted plot of a love subject, Ravi felt the subject may be old but could be presented in a novel way. "The movie is a combo of my imagination and the experience of my friend," was all Ravi liked to divulge about the storyline.

Ravi would like to dabble as an actor too, but has put four offers on hold. But he is sure of taking the plunge when his schedule as cinematographer is complete. "After all, cinema is a medium with no restrictions to explore the creative side of one's personality," says Ravi with a smile.

With the advent of digital technology, Ravi feels the competition has hotted up for cinematographers. "Now one need not be technically savvy regarding the lens, angle and distance for camera positions," opined Ravi on the changing scenario.
