Ranveer Singh plays the lead role as Kapil Dev, while Tamil star Jiiva will be seen as Krishnamachari Srikkanth. As we all know, this pan-Indian biggie holds some high expectations among moviebuffs and cricket fans worldwide. Recently, speculations were rife that the film might directly release on the OTT platforms and it created a confusion among the fans. To clear the air, the makers have officially confirmed that the film will have its theatrical release for sure, whenever the theatres reopen. In a recent interview with a Bollywood media house, director Kabir Khan was quoted as saying, “83 is a film that has been envisioned and made to be experienced on the big screen and we are ready to wait for things to get normal and then release it in cinemas”.

Similarly, Shibashish Sarkar, CEO of Reliance Entertainment Group, also confirmed that there are no plans of releasing the film directly on OTT platforms first, as the film has been made for the theatrical audience. So, the fans can now be assured that ‘83 will start streaming on OTT platforms only after the completion of its theatrical run. Additional reports suggest that Netflix has bought the digital streaming rights of ‘83. The Tamil version of ‘83 will be released by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International throughout Tamil Nadu, in association with Sashikanth’s Y Not Studios.
